    can any1 here help me to get started with setting-up the name-server (DNS) in Windows 2000 Adv. Server.

    thx in advance. (if you know a good website with step-by-step help, that's cool too :}

    Probably someone can and will if you give us some clue as to what you need to do with it - DNS for an internal LAN (and flat or routed), part of a WAN, other.

    hi,

    well i want the name-server for the WAN side, recently bought my own domain & now i also want a name-server (DNS).. using my friends DNS as secondary.. since the post yesterday i have been playing with BIND for Windows 2000 Adv. Server (looks alot like the Linux one).. still not sure if i did everything correct, i do know that @ the moment my domain is not up & runiing..

    DNS on Win2k is easy. You can use the Wizard in the DNS console to create your forward and reverse lookup zones. If you are using Active Directory, you will have your own zone already because Active Directory will create one if you don't already have one.
    You can then set forwarders to your WAN partners, or to the Internet.
