Hi My Window Me In Windows Stops Off And On .like When I Play My Cd It Stops And It Go Again . It Does That To Me When I Go On The Internet . The Window Stops Then It Gos Again . What Is Going On With My Windows Me .

When did this start?

Did it start after a particular event - such as a program install? If recent, one thing to try is to use System Restore to go back right before this condition started.

Do you get any messages about low system resources?

How long is the "freeze "?

Do you do anything, such as stop other programs running to start the system again?

To look at System Resources: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools (this may not be the exact wording - been a long time since I've run WinME) > Resource meter. It'll sit in the tray and tell you how much system resources are being used.

There is the possibility that you have malware running, are you running programs like Spybot or Ad-Aware? MS's Anti-Spyware won't run on 9X systems. If not, go to the Quick Links > recommended links at the top of this page and follow the links and instructions on downloading and updating them.

Hi Charles I Down Load Mcafee Fire Wall For Free But I Don't Think That Is It . All My Progams Stops And Start Up Again .i Had To Crash My Pc The Other Day And Some Time I Can Get A Bad Window Or A Bad File That Comes With Windows As I Start My Me Cd . I Cant Use Me Sys Restore It Won't Let Me To Go Back In Time .i Think What I Need To Do Is Crash My Pc Again .but Can You See What Elis I Can Do Befor I Crash My Pc Thank

 

Hi Dave,

Lets see if we can get System Restore to work.

Right click on My Computer, select Properties and select the System Restore tab. Choose the drive listed under Available drives, and click the Settings button. Move the slider left to 6% and reboot. Afterwards, reset the slider back to maximum.

Hopefully this will make room for the Restore Operation.

A bit hard to understand the problem here. If the computer freezes only when reading the CD, it can be one of these things.
1. Bad CD
2. CD driver laser lens is dirty
3. CD drive is going bad.
