On the same PC, running XP, Oulook Express 6, and it works for me fine right now. But her e-mails, which had been fine as well, get the following error for three messages, 11, 14, and 18:

"Message number 11 could not be retrieved. Account: 'Judy1', Server: 'POP.sbcglobal.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR problem retrieving message.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800420CD "

    Help please?

    Thanks
    Alex

This morning she received eight messages, and then the window with the error messages popped up. All the messages received were advertisemnets for medicines, and she gets a lot of them.

Another interesting fact is that if she goes to the sbc.yahoo website, as we do to retrieve our messages when we are not home, and she looks at her e-mails, she has no new ones!!!

    Three questions:
    1. Could a specific e-mail trying to be received, cause the problems?

    2. Could the sbc-yahoo website have some sort of a blocking mechanism that prevents these e-mail advetisements from getting through? Can we get that?

    3. If I give her a new account (different e-mail address) and delete the present one, can I transfer her old messages and addresses to her new account? How?

    Thanks!

    Alex

I use A program called " MailWasher " to first check the mail. IT DOES NOT download the mail. You can view the mail ( limited view ) but enough to tell whether it is something you want or if you do not want it set it to be DELETED OFF OF THE SERVER. It never makes you machine.

I just checked my E-Mail with MAILWASHER. I also had 6-8 of those trash messages. They were DELETED from there. They never get to my reqular e-mail program. ( Eudora )

I know this has more than likely been said to you before but I will say it again. " DO NOT click on links in E-Mail unless you can be sure where they came from." I made that mistake a while back. This site it went to had NOTHING to do with medicine.

That is where MailWasher comes in Handy. You can screen the mail before downloading. Set things to be deleted and then hit Proccess mail and it will delete ( off of the server ) what you checked and then start your normal e-mail program.

I do not " BOUNCE " the mail either. I believe that just confirms your address.

I have also noticed that A LOT of the trash mail has been FORWARDED to me.

    1-YES !!!
    3-That will work FOR AWHILE
