Help, when I open My Videos I get the message that

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. "

And then it just locks up and doesn't close so I have to ctrl-alt-delete it and close it manually.

What's up with that? How do I fix/stop it?

    Thanks

Often times it's just some corruption in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Always dump that folder as your first effort when you have any problem with graphics files.

I've tried that a couple of times using disk cleanup and Norton CleanSweep, it does seem to have had an effect in that it stays open for longer and I can open stuff but after about 10 seconds the same message comes up. Any other ideas anybody?

Here are a few explorer errors for you. ;)

I'm wondering if your login profile has a problem (corruption). What happens if you login as another user or administrator or create another account for testing. Do you get the same error?

If this fixes the problem, then the following will help you transfer your data from your current profile to a new one.

I don't know if this is any help but when I click on More Information it gives me this.

    AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: msvcrt.dll
    ModVer: 7.0.2600.2180 Offset: 000372e3

Paul, I can't open it as another user either, I get the same warning.
