On my XP Toolbar, I've placed the Desktop>> button (just to the left of the System Tray) so I can access a list of what's on my Desktop without closing an open window. Altho it's not on my Desktop, "My Network Places" shows in this list....how do I get rid of it? Right click/delete doesn't remove it, it just puts it at the bottom of the list. I have no use for My Network Places, I can't even find where the folder is located (else I'd try deleting it from there). If I delete My Network Places going thru My Computer, it just comes back after a restart. BTW, Control Panel>Display>Desktop>Customize has My Network Places unchecked. Any ideas?

Go into Display Properties>Desktop> Customize. You can uncheck it in there.

Maggie....it is unchecked, I had originally thought that that would solve the problem. I have Googled about a bit, it may be that My Network Places is something you have to live with unless you want to take on a major edit of the registry....evidently it has to do with networking several PCs.

It won't delete? I had to put it on my Quicklaunch bar. I do Network my machines, rather than go to the desktop if I wanted to get into My Network Places.
