my netscape+mail

I have netscape7.1 and 4.76 on my computer at home.Ican get my mail and my Netscape on the older version but not the new one.On the new version i keep getting a message that a error has occured.Can someone help me.

 

What error message are you getting? Have you tried reinstalling Netscape7.1? You can use the instructions found here. Make sure to follow all of the instructions. Also, backup your User folder in 4.76 before you do anything. There shouldn't be any problems, but always better to be safe.

We really need some details. Have you ever been able to get in NS7.1? If you do not get My Netscape, you must not be able to surf, until Netscape.com was down.

 

yes, netscape7.1 browser works find and i can surf fine,but when i try to go to my netscape or mail and enter my user name and password a page comes up and say`s (sorry,an error occurred).(click here to continue.)then it takes me back to the logon boxes.everything works fine in 4.76.

It would be helpful in troubleshooting, if you would pleast post the error. Are you by chance using Windows XP?

Try this workaround and see if it helps:

Close Netscape and Quick Launch
Open Windows Explorer
Navigate to your Profile folder
(See THIS PAGE for folder location)
Open your Mail Account Folder
Delete all files with an MSF extension
(These are your Mail Summary files, and likely corrupt)
Don't delete files without the MSF extension, as these are your Mail files.

Post back with the error, and we can do some further troubleshooting, if necessary.
