    Hi there folks,

I notice that the brightness of my 17 inch Acer 77c monitor takes an awful long time to reach its normal level after its been disconnected for several hours, sometimes days. I have tried the brightness control and set it to 100% but that doesn't fix the problem. It is currently set at 50% and the time taken to reach full level is the same. The time taken is about 20 to 60 minutes depending on how long its been off. This has only been occurring for the last 3 or 4 months, more recently now as the winter months set in. After the 20 - 60 min warm up time, it works fine. It has a pulsing standby light on the front panel when I close my PC down for the night. I guess that means its keeping warm??

I disconnect my PC, and therefore my monitor, whenever there is a lightning storm about. I do this having lost four modems during storms, and not lost any since. I disconnect the phone line as well.

The monitor was purchased in Feb 1999 and has only given me one small fault problem on the main pcb, where one component over heated apparently and produced an open circuit. My repair man fixed it easily and perfectly. The age is then something over four years. I wonder if there a button battery that needs to be replaced? There is nothing in my multi language manual to
explain this problem. Please advise, and thanks in advance.

Think yourself lucky it's 'BRIGHT' at all. The monitor im using now is 14 ", about 10yr's old and is very very dark. I have to change brightness thru my video card settings. I bought a 486 for 30buks and got this monitor with it.

"What do you expect for 30bucks?.... "
