My firewall just gave me a warning from

    My firewall just gave me a warning from 192.168.0.1 that they wanted to access my PC ... Should I allow this site access [ I denied it for now] ? Never saw this {site}before on my firewall..

    I Did Not and would Not "allow access" was just wondering why this site was pinging me ..
    I guess I wanted to know when do alllow something to access your PC .. Commmom sense [ which I seem to be short of ] says never unless I know who or what it is...

    Well, since 192.168.0.1 is the gateway address on many of the home router/switches, ICS, etc. to allow you to get to the internet, and since RFC 1918 (see your comments section) explains the private address ranges that are never assigned for real but strictly for local use, and since the IANA is the folks who control assignment of public IP addresses, it looks like your firewall is warning you that you want to talk to yourself and that the talk will be very official and legit.

    Could easily have been an attack probe written by a script kiddie who wasn't very good at it.

    your right ... I think that is my router IP [ not 100% sure] but seem to remember that now , anyway thanks for the help and info ,
    going to look and see if I can find where I put my common sense today..
