I never have posted in this section before but owing to my recent experience with Adobe I feel i must do so. I have the free Adobe Reader - recently I scanned a doc but since you can not edit such docs in the free version I clicked on convert to Word doc - nice But it said I had register OK by me. It took me to a website that had on it the Adobe convert tool for a 199.99 PER YEAR subscription pricey but still can do. And I can cancel at any time OK - BUT when I clicked this it took me to the page where I had to buy the WHOLE package at 190 bucks, no way. No amount of searching found that 19.99 converter. So I was forced to call and that took a full hour after many many button pressings.
Finally after a 1 hour hold of someone I got a guy who was happy to sell me the product. deal done, or so I thought. Turn out to activate the product I needed a password, never in all the 100's of apps I installed did I need any password. The guy who sold it did not say a word about this.
well back to cust serv 15 button pushes & 1 hour later I get a guy in India (of course) explain about password bit, he sends a link for this BUT link says to RESET password, I ask how do I RESET PW if I never had one in the 1rst place? No asn from this guy. I finally figure it out that I just put in any PW in the 1rst line and repeat in the 2nd line. After doing all this I find that converting scan to Word results in a lot of garble so I decide to cancel:mad: subscription - there is NOTHING on the app to do this nor on Adobe site and You guessed it 1 more hr on the bloody phone. I will NEVER buy Adobe.

What version of Word do you use. From 2003 forward you can save a scan as a Word document and from Word save it as a PDF.

    Another good choice is PDF-XChange.

I liked Foxit reader for a while, but I had some stability issues with it later on (was running XP at the time - have not tried Foxit on later Windows versions).
