My Documents Issue

    My Father-In-Law has somehow goofed up every file in his my documents folder. Documents that were word or excell all open up to read with the letter y with two dots over it repeated over and over. lost all photos, in all formats as they won't open either. Have run virus scans from several different sites as well as his Own virus software and comes up clean. Have done system restore, and sfc /scannow. No luck. Anyone have any ideas?

    If you try a document or photo of his on another PC, is it still trashed or does it work normally?

    And make sure to try with one whose last-modified date was before the problem started.

    E-mailed some files to me and they had the same problem. Moved some files into his My Documents folder and no trouble. Every file that is in the folder shows a modified date and time that are exactly the same.
