ever since i got the compuer almost a year ago there has been no proper shortcut to the "My documents" folder on the desktop, so i had to create a shortcut to it myself. However, when i view the desktop contents in a window, i.e. by opening My computer and selecting "Up ", the My Documents proper shortcut is present along side the one i created. The obvious difference between the two is that the one i created has a shortcut arrow in the bottom left corner of the icon.

Basically, how can i get the proper My Documents icon on the desktop?

right click on desktop>properties>desktop tab>customize desktop button>check My Documents box. highlighting my documents in the window and clicking change icon will let you choose what it looks like.
