Recently, I've noticed that on occasion while listening to music using Winamp, my laptop will make a terrible noise, go to a blue screen, then restart. Here is the error log, I would love to have this fixed as after the first time it occured, my music has been skipping:

Craig - welcome to the Board :)

First set up your computer so that it does not restart on System Failure - the default setting ....

Right click My Computer icon > Properties > Advanced tab > startup and Recovery . Settings and uncheck 'Automatically restart' under System failure and from the drop down list select Kernel memory dump.

Your computer will then halt at the blue screen (BSOD) and you can read any error message there and other information relating to a possible cause. Post the error message here - just the Stop xxxxx - not the whole page.

Then go here and follow the instructions to debug the dump data and post the whole log here - spread over two or more posts if necessary. You must be connected to the internet while debugging.

In the meantime is it only Winamp which causes the problem? How does Media Player perform?

If there is no problem with WMP you should uninstall and re-install Winamp and update it if necessary.

If you have a problem with sound in general you should uninstall and re-install the sound device through Device Manager and reload the chipset drivers, which generally contain the sound drivers.
