    cdrom

I take it you have installed this cdrom in this box yourself? Take the thing out, notice how the jumper is set ie: slave or master on what ide channel. Now find a friend (sometimes hard to do) that will let you use his box. Take his/her cdrom out, notice again how it's jumper settings etc, hook yours up temparary leaving it set on a stack of books outside the computer. Bootup. Does it work? Yes= the cdrom is ok & your cable or ide channel on your box is botched. No=the cdrom needs to RIP @ local landfill:eek:
