I lost the "My Computer" Icon in my Start Menu. I've tried everything I can from what I've searched. Can anyone help?

    1. Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, choosing Properties.

    2. The multi-tabbed Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box appears. Click the Start Menu tab.

    3. Make sure the Start Menu radio button is checked, and then click its Customize button.

    4. The multi-tabbed Customize Start Menu dialog box appears. Click the Advanced tab.

    5. Underneath Start menu items scroll down to My Computer. Choose either to display a link to "My Computer ", a menu to the "My Computer" items, or not to display this item at all in the Start Menu.

    6. Click OK on the dialog boxes to close them.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have the Start menu set as Classic Start Menu then on the desktop, select My Computer,
Holding the left Mouse Button - Drag the Icon to Start. This will put the icon on the menu.

I do use the classic start menu and I did what you said, but after I shut down and then started the computer again, the shortcut in the start menu was empty.
