must restart for printer to work

    Running Win xp, having problems with printer, must restart the comp for the the printer to work, each time if printer is left on it will continue to work, once shut off, printer will fail to print, ????? Beats me?????
    Anyone have the same problem?:( :( :( :(

    Details please. Which printer are you using, is its USB/Parallel/Serial, hardware configuration etc.

    Running Win xp, having problems with printer

    Printer is HP Office Jet45, I just checked properties and it says it's connected to onDot4_001???
    Any ideas?

    Its a USB printer.

    Just try to change the USB port (there are usually 2-4 USB ports at the back of the computer). Just take out the cable out from the existing port & plug it into another.

    If it doesn't work, unplug the printer from the computer, remove the printer software, reboot, reinstall the software & then plug in the printer.
