I rip and burn music in the .wav format. When playing back in either the computer or my home CD system the songs are shown numerically. (I enter the title and artist name before burning). Yet, when I rip and burn in the mp3 format the song title appears for each one - this without entering the title or artist before burning. It also lists in alphabetical (mp3) order, even though I do not enter it that way.

Am using Nero Express6 which came with the CD drive.

Is this the norm, or am I omitting something?

(Forgot to mention, this happens using WMP. When it opens using Nero ( a playback box in the top left corner) the title for each music piece is shown).

    OS is WinXP Pro.

When you burn the files to mp3, the player gets the title from the mp3's tag. I don't have Nero but if you look around a bit, I'm sure you'll find a place where you can view and edit the tag. This won't help you of course but if you don't know what a tag is, it will show you.

When you burn the files in wav format you are burning an audio CD. In order for the player to be able to show the names of songs on an audio CD, you have to select the option to write CD Text. Your burner has to support it (most do these days I think) and the player you use to play the files also has to support it. Yours may or may not. Something you'd have to look into.

My guess is that Nero is capable of writing CD Text but if so, I can't give you the specifics. Try searching the help file for CD Text.
