Here is what I want to do:

Setup multiple accounts and have the start menu of the different accounts to be different.

    IE:

Dad will have admin and all programs listed on his start menu.

Mom will have only those programs that she uses on her start menu.

Kids will have only their programs to appear on their start menus.

Each of these users would not have passwords. They would simply choose the Icon they wanted to use at the welcome screen.

As far as I can see so far, you can change pictures and themes and taskbar (cosmetic stuff), but you can't have different start menu for each user.

What I really want to do is have several computers in this box that can be accessed from the welcome screen.

start~run~gpedit.msc and I think you'll find what you want.

If not, use the above to cripple their start menu (only leave the functions they need like log off, shutdown, whatever) and then put shortcuts to what they need on their desktop.

Some programs will install for a single user, but others, especially older ones, are unpredictable.

You can choose what programs are in each Start menu by setting each one up under their names.
    Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu.

Additionally you will need to move startups from the "ALL USERS" to the specific user profile. Leave only what you want all users to have in "ALL USERS ".

And if the same item is already in "ALL USERS" then remove it from the specfic user profile.

Well I gave it several shots and all I got was a head full of holes.

I have decided that the best way is to install XP 3 times and configure each with their own partitions. That will be like three computers in one box.

Thanks for your answers though, I 'preciate it.:)

    Bmoore:

Set up your user accounts using the preferred names i.e.; Dad, Mom, Kids, etc.

Then open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings. You should see each users name listed as subdirectories. Under each user name will be a start menu, add or subtract from each menu what you do or do not want each user to have access to. Common programs such as OE, Word, etc. should be stored under All Users.
