can you install windows 7 ultimate with a licensed DVD and use another key where the original DVD has been damaged or destroyed?

ASAIK , the media should not matter. Microsoft is only concerned with Key.

Course you can't mix Retail and OEM keys.

No boot sector normally applies to the hard drive.
Is the machine currently up and running? or What is the history behind the problem?

    Thanks for the help.

We will get back to the vendor for a solution and/or a new dvd.

    I'll mark this as resolved.
