    In my C:\WINDOWS\Dowloaded Program Files

    I have three instances of "Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0" installed according to my browser;

    I found this by going:

    Internet Options
    General Tab
    Temporary Internet File
    Settings

    This is in Internet Explorer 6.0

    Is this a problem and why are there three installed Java Runtimes?

    My Downloaded Program Files pertaining to Java. Are you running multiple browsers?

    These are for IE.

    I am running just the one IE.

    Three installed lines are shown for the same Java Runtime which looks strange to me.

    Is this normal? I would think there would be just the one line for installed items under IE.

    They are probably for every version that you updated from. Look in Add/Remove Programs to see how many Update versions of Java are listed. I have never cleaned any of the older update versions from my list starting with 5.0 Update 2. I have Updates 2,5 and 6 listed. I think you're supposed to leave them but I am not positive.

    I have 2 Updates in Add/Remove

    one for Update 2 = 117 MB
    one for Update 6 = 119 MB

    Looks funny they keep the old without replacing it. Clogging memory and disk space!

    I may try removing them all and reinstaling later to see if anything changes.
