    Hello.....

    Win 98 (I know, I know ; ) )
    IE 6

When I have more than 1 IE window open, the icon for that window that used to appear in the bottom bar (the one with the clock) is no longer there, but rather is "behind" the open window (above the status bar). I have to minimize the open window to access the subseqeuent windows, instead of going to the bottom bar and clicking on it. I can't, for the life of me figure out how to put those icons in the bottom bar. I would be most appreciative if someone could set me straight.

Hope I made sense......not sure of the proper lingo.

Martino--Is the Taskbar (the bottom one--with the clock), itself, hidden behind the open window? Or just the tab for another open window?

    If the first,
    Always on top.
Right-click the Taskbar and click Properties to access basic settings that can help you get the most out of this useful component. To keep the Taskbar accessible at all times, select the Always On Top checkbox.
P.S. (Many games and video playback programs temporarily override this feature.)

    Hi Jim...

Thanks for the reply. The task bar is indeed there as is the status bar right above it. The tabs for the other open windows are resting on the status bar, behind the maximized open window, instead of on the task bar. The "Always On Top" box is checked, by the way.

    Did I make sense?

    Martino--
You are making perfect sense, but I have never heard of the windows tabs being on the Status Bar.
Have you tried to reboot? That solves a lot of problems in Win98.
What happens if you click the Maximize (double square) button at the top right of the window?
Or, if that does not work,
Start|Run|type sfc|OK. Here are some more detailed instructions.

If this problem started less than five days ago, you might consider the instructions under ScanReg in the above link.

And if none of that helps, what happens when you click View and uncheck Status Bar?
I no longer run Win98 so cannot remember if TweakUI offers any help here.

    Hello Jim....

Actually, the tabs were not on the status bar, but right above it, behind the open window. But.......

I had rebooted a couple of times during my research into this, as I had learned to do early on with Win98, to no avail. Just for the heck of it, I rebooted again and.....Voila! Problem solved (for now, anyway ; ) )

I'm much obliged for your your help!

Martino--You are welcome. Third time lucky with rebooting!! :)
Win98 was a little weird that way. It probably was some file getting improperly installed on an earlier reboot that caused the problem in the first place.
