Muffled sound from websites

    The sound from some websites is muffled, particularly those that are giving out information or explaining a product. I get good quality sound when listening to radio programmes on the internet, such as from the BBC. Can anyone suggest what might be causing the muffled sound please?

    I am using Windows XP Home edition and Internet Explorer 7.
