Starting Vista and closing is about the same but opening programs has become very sluggish with no other changes being made. Has anybody else experienced this

I've seen this on other forums but haven't experienced it myself. I did have issues with the update that affected RealTek Audio (but it wasn't the typical error that others have seen).

I'd suggest restoring to a point prior to the slowdown - then adding the updates one-by-one until you find the culprit.

    Sluggish

I had a problem with Security Update KB 925902. After installing it my system, booted up very slowly and was crashing every 2 hours. I could set my watch to it. I uninstalled the update, and everything ran normal.
I reinstalled the update, and when I would log-off my system would "hang" at "Saving settings ", then the blue screen of death. I uninstalled & was back to normal. This happened on over 40 of my workstations, both Vista Business & XP Pro workstations. I have since unchecked this update so it does not install automatically.
I contacted Microsoft and was told I probably have malfunctioning hardware.

Still could be if the culprit is on a machine that all the 40 Workstations go through. Hmm...
