    Greetings -
I'm in the process of preparing a new Windows XP "master" image which will be the basis for Ghosting many new machines for deployment.

I'm starting with the "current" master image, which is nearly a year old (!); I'm busy applying updates and removing apps no longer needed.

At this stage I have the following installations in place, inherited from last
    year's image:

    MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978)
    MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181)
    MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430)
    MSXML 6.0 SP2 (KB954459)

My question is: can I delete the 4.0 versions, or are these interdependent? I'm not entirely sure what these are for; my (limited) understanding is that they address security issues for IE . . . any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi Saguaro. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

If you don't know what MSXML is then read this, What is MSXML.

Just so you know there is a new version of MSXML. Its MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 3 and its available for download here, MSXML Service Pack 3. MSXML 4.0 SP3 will replace all the SP2 updates.
