when I activate msinfo32.exe, I get the following message:

Access denied to Windows Management Instrumentation Server on this computer. Have an Administrator change your access permissions.

I have administrator access. What is causing the problem?

    Hello sirkler,

Are you doing this thru the Control Panel or the run command?

Have you tried in safe mode?

    Regards - Charles

I recommend this link to eliminate the possibility of a trojan or other virus.

After eliminating the virus as a possibility (Sasser) then try pasting this line in the RUN window:

    Code:
     "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe" /categories +all
If that works, then try opening Windows Help via the link on the Start menu. Post back your results on both issues.
