msft sidewinder rac wheel xp

A question: With a Microsoft "Sidewinder" racing wheel the
only drivers that you can find seem to be for Windows 98.
This seems to be the same with the Logitech versions of this type of peripheal
Running Windows XP there are glitches
Does anyone know of any updated drivers . updates or patches ?

To discharge the static, follow these steps:
Turn off the computer with the game controller still plugged in.
Unplug the game controller from the port into which it is plugged.
Plug the game controller into the other USB port on your computer, and then unplug it again.

NOTE: If you do not have a second USB port, plug and then unplug your controller between six and 12 times in the same port.
With the game controller unplugged from the USB port, restart the computer.
When you see the Windows desktop, plug the game controller back in.
