    WinXP, Home, SP2.
I had to restore my system using msbackup and it did restore it. Had to make a couple of adjustments since it re-assigned my drive letters but no biggie.

Problem is: After booting up, i saw a new folder (My Backup --01-08-05
1507), its a dupe of the original backup file with the date/time of the backup
(2.8gig). The original file is on a different drive.

Question: How do i remove (delete) this folder? It has all the programs, data,
and Docs\Settings including all the users (Admin, allusers, default, and some
dat files). I removed the "read only" and tried safe mode and could get rid of
some of it but not all. Made sure i was signed as Administrator.

    thanks,
    savagcl

savagcl--Since you have already removed some of it (I assume you deleted some of the files within the folder), I guess there is no harm trying to get rid of it all, especially since you have a dupe elsewhere. Try these programs
    MoveonBoot
    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html
    Delete FXP
    http://www.jrtwine.com/Products/DelFXPFiles/
(Although the writeup says this is for deleting .ftp files, apparently it works on others.)
P.S. Did you mean MSBackup or NTBackup?

    Welshjim,
    Thanks for the feedback.

    I ment MSbackup.

Will try those links you gave me.

Another thought, since i cant delete it, could it be moved to a different drive
and then do a format on that extended drive (partition, i mean). Its nearly
empty and its not defined as "Active ".

    thanks again,
    savagcl

The MoveOnBoot didnt work, basically did nothing.

I tried to copy that folder to drive (partition) F. It did copy All Users, Default
User, Local Service, Network Service but would copy Administrator or All Users.

Guess it copied some of All Users. Because of the administrator folder, I dont
think anything will get rid of this folder............

    Any more ideas?

savagcl--Regrets. I do not have any experience with MSBackup.
Usually the C:\Backup folder contains files that have been backed up, which then are ready for burning to another media. (In other words, an intermediate step is necessary for the burning process.) In my experience, once the burning has occurred the Backup folder is emptied.
I doubt these files are going to hurt anything, though of course they do take up space.
    Perhaps someone else can help.

Never mind, Welshjim, I got it deleted.

Had to go into the folder, to lowest level and started re-naming files or
extensions and un-doing some properties (hidden and read-only). For example
Dr Watson became Drowatson, whatever.dat became whatever.xxx then
    the delete worked.

Was surprised that renaming a dat file was allowed. As each lower-level
folder was emptied, then could delete that folder and start on the next upper
    level.

Whatever, its gone now. The use of msbackup is just a stopgap until Acronis
gets up to speed with 64-bit addressing anyway. It dont work so good anyway.
I had to re-install several programs (zone alarm, browsers, sound drivers).

    Thanks for the help,
    savagcl
