I just replaced my hdd with a new clean install with win98se, only problem is msbackup doesn't recognise my cd-r/rw drive anymore plus just moved house and have apparently lost installation disks, I do have the driver backed up for my cd device but there is no application software,i used to run adaptec create cd4 but its missing presently,so i got hold of another copy, possibly a different version, but this hasn't worked.

I do have a zip drive which i have managed to get msbackup to use, but only after going to iomega and downloading software, then it would recognise the zip drive. My CD-R/RW is a samsung sw 212b, but i dont remember there being any application software for this device. does anyone think I will be able to fix this or shall i just bin the drive and get another one? any suggestions greatly appreciated

Hi spoonmagoon, welcome to the boards.

As far as i know, msbackup cannot work with a CR-R drive, in the Win98se help file it says Backup only works with tape drive or network backup.
Possibly you had some other program for backup to CD-R ? I use Ghost for this purpose.

    Best
