Since I used IE6, I got a lot of error messages which forced IE6 to restart. Such one message was:

    Error signature:

    appName: iexplore.exe
    AppVer. 6.0.26.00.0 ModName: msacm32.dll
    ModVer. 4.3.0.1998 Offset: 00001654

Is there a fix for it? Thanks.

    Perhaps:
Troubleshooting Problems with Compressed Audio [MSACM=Microsoft Audio Compression Manager]
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q133365

    Got any sound problems,
Device manager showing any problematic devices,
msinfo32.exe give you any clues or indications of problems,
have you tried a repair of ie6.....

It said can't repair IE6 but I should reinstall all components. I haven't done that because I restored all the archived dll files from the DllArchive's archived directory. I still wait and see if this will work...

An inability to use the repair functions of IE is an indication of an incomplete install. Perhaps that is why your having so many current problems with IE. There are lot's of past posts on just this particular topic in the "Archived" help.net data base. Perhaps you should "search" for the How-to's on downloading the upgrade files of IE6 "full" to harddrive and [re]installing them yourself rather than using microsoft's active auto-install. This type of installation has a history of being problematic.

As you were not specific in the popup message/explanation for IE's inability to repair its self, If it is indeed because you have managed to clean out some neccessary shared or critical *dll's, and have since replaced these, can you now run IE's repair?
