 I recently had to buy a new printer (HP C4180) only to find that it has an incompatibility with MS Works 6 which causes an 'out of memory' error when trying to print a spreadsheet or database. The solutions offered by HP were far from ideal (use a different driver - rubbish print) so I bought MS Works 8, only to find that it refuses to open any of my Works 6 database files (spreadsheets are OK)!!!
If no-one knows of a solution I shall have to RE-ENTER ALL 600 ITEMS of these databases. Help!

MS Works 8 refuses to open my Works 6 database files

    Hi Dennis L -
Many thanks for your reply. Of the three options I used the first, it being the easiest, and it works (excuse the pun)!! You've saved me from having to retype 600-plus entries into new database files - what a relief. Only drawback - I used a font in the original which isn't available in Works 8 so I'm having to do some minor restructuring to get the layout right - a trivial difficulty.

    Glad it WORKed out. :D
    No fun reentering large databases.

Is this font not on your computer ...? which would allow it to be available to WORD 8. If not, adding a font to your system is not difficult.

MS Works 8 resudes to open my Works 6 database files

    Hi Dennis L -
You are right that the font is not on my PC. however, the font I am now using (Abadi MT Cond.) gives a preferable result, so I'll put up with the small amount of restructuring. Thanks anyway.
