Struck me long ago....if MS didn't have the litigation budget of a medium sized country, peoples' daily reality, given our computers are at the center of our lives, professionally and personally....would be vastly different from what it is worldwide.

Of course then, law school admissions might drop BY HALF. ;)

Indeed. But those who are gifted, passionate, principled and on the side of the angels by default... are priceless. And they don't just exist in the movies or on Law & Order!

And our legal system is based on yours! British Common Law! Bet you have good and OMG, Eeewww... among your advocates too!

I was dissing MS by implying that they alone, already retain half the attorneys in America and elsewhere. And 80% of the anti trust ones.

Well apart from Rumpole or Clarence Darrow playing the role of Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird (sorry I'm not good with actors)

Darrow lived. there are still devoted advocates driven by principle exhausting themselves on behalf of the needy, the victims, the helpless. the disenfranchised..

Law & Order and all its spinoffs is an amazing TV franchise. Not sure if you get it there. If you are a starving idealist like Jilly.....you will need the whole thing on DVD.

But American films especially are filled with examples of heroic attorneys: Oliver Stone's JFK, loosely based on actual events, 12 Angry Men, the now late Paul Newman played one in a character resurrection film; Philadelphia, in which Tom Hanks, wrongfully fired attorney and Denzel who morphs into a class act by representing him, play the kind of advocates one wishes they all were.

And, if you follow the news, again, they exist in real life and I, for one am grateful for their presence.

There he is! Common, is The Paddy too SELF PROTECTIVELY cynical not to be nourished by such? I have at least half of them on DVD. Box sets. Along with All Seasons with bonus material, Warner Brothers licensed, box set of The West Wing. The genius series conceived by the Amazing Aaron Sorkin.

Paddy, art is not simply neo-realistic depiction; art can offer a paradigm of not simply what is, but what might be, and even IS!

Also please know, that they are on 24/7, is a reflection of ratings. It is a response to the audience and what viewers wants and like. Programming is anything but arbitrary!

And note, if they are on 24/7 there's no need to buy a box set :D

    Cute.:)

It's about the freedom & employing user options at will and not being at the mercy of TNT or BRV or The Patriot Act.:p

Never use it. plus, there are so many episodes within this franchise and all its spinoffs, having what you cherish on DVD is the way I go.

I have huge DVD library....I only get the best editions, and always on ebay or Amazon, used in either like new or very good condition. For no money. (The L&O Box set was new.)

My friend Michael bought me heavy tabbed DVD library dividers, and now whole thing is alphabetized, and I can pull this or that in two nanoseconds.

I especially cherish the DVD format because on some things the bonus material is just as good as the original work or better. It's All good.

I have both top editions of Silence of the Lambs because each bears unique and fabulous bonus material.

I am a serious cinemaphile. Tho no way close to the formidable, singular Mr. Scorsese....whose knowledge is encyclopedic, open and shut.

You play a film with good commentary track by the director and other principals.....you learn graduate level stuff!

Bottom line, what I evolve works for me. And I know every element of why. But we are each unique, yes?:)

No, Wildfire, one of the true miracles of the privilege of this life, is getting no two individuals are alike. Not even meercats and wildebeests.

Re humans, no two sets of fingerprints alike. Does than not blow you away? Gives me goosebumps.

Plus, I believe we are all meant to be works in progress to, over time, potentiate the best parts of our unique selves and divest ourselves of the opposite.

Why am I unique and not all others?? Cause I name my HDDS after animals? No, cause I live in a no pet building, OK?

That was a lie; I would do that even if I did not live in a no pet building. :D

I do, tho know who Monty python is. Does that count at all??

    I never saw it.

Wait.....a guy gave me an amazing VHS tape of Eddie Izzard performing live. Was one of the most hilarious and genius things I had ever seen. Does that put any points on the board at all?

My time in this thread has come to and end and I shall now leave it to the two kindred interest guys to happily engage in stuff entirely cryptic to me.

    Enjoy!:D

Jilly, please watch "life of brian" then ask yourself if Eddie Izzard is really funny (I have to confess though he is)
