After every reboot, the action center reports that Microsoft Security Essentials isn't turned on. I have confirmed that it's listed as automatic and running in services, appears as a running process in task manager and msconfig confirms that it is one of my start apps.

It's of course a simple matter to turn it on but I'd rather have it run automatically.

    Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is that Real Time protection is not on. Open up the program by double clicking the taskbar Icon (it should be colored red) and select the Settings tab. Click on Real Time Protection in the left pane and make sure that the "Turn on real time protection" box is ticked. Also tick the 2 option boxes are ticked. Save the changes. Your Icon should now be green and all should be OK. Hope this is of some help.

    Cheers

My taskbar icon for MSE is green and indicates Real Time Protection is ON but the action center continues to tell me it is not on. I may try an uninstall and /re-install.

Re-install seems to have corrected the problem for now.
