I got used to MS Photo Editor on my W98 box, now upgraded to XP and reinstalled MS Photo Editor from MS Office 97 CD, after installing MS Office 2003. MS Photo Editor works fine now except that it can't print images.... I get a Printer not activated, error code -20 message, followed by Printer error. The default printer is found, however, if I print any help topics from MS Photo Editor... any suggestions from you wizards..??

PeteC - (hello again).... Thanks for the speedy reply.. I drilled down the links you provided and have indeed downloaded Irfanview. It appears to be feature-rich and works very well... the feature I used to use extensively in PhotoEd was 'AutoBalance' which did improve virtually any digital image I had..... it'll take some time to play w/Irfanview to replicate that, but I'm sure I'll master it. I am abandoning MSPhotoEd as it makes me nervous knowing of some incompatibility w/XP. One more thing if you know it off the top of your head : I got this laptop w/XP preloaded - can I get a free XP CD from either HP or MS?? Thanks again !!

Very doubtful, but the HP laptop I bought a few months ago - nx6310 has a mirror of the system as installed on delivery on a hidden partition plus the one off opportunity to make a set of recovery CD's.
