I am migrating from my HP Compaq nx6310 running Win XP SP3 to Dell Inspiron iR14 running Win 7 Home Ed. I have MS Office 2007 running on both laptops. I copied the mail data file OUTLOOK.PST from the old laptop to the new one. I can see all my emails, configuration, address book, etc on the new laptop. Quite pleasant.
Problem: MS Outlook is downloading (or more accurately re-downloading) all the old emails!! Am seated here just deleting the duplicates! This is not very pleasant when I have purchased an internet bundle:(. How can I stop MS Outlook from downloading old mail?

After the old mail came down again - is it repeating the process?

There is a setting in Account Setting-> Leave Mail On Server. If you uncheck that - it will empt out the mail on the server.

[After the old mail came down again - is it repeating the process?] No, its not repeating the process.
[- it will empt out the mail on the server] I would not like to empty the server. I delete the emails I do not need manually from the server.

Well you will have that problem as long as the server is not emptied when you download mail. That is the way ISP servers work. It is kind of like all of them at once or you will get them again and again till they are all downloaded. You could also just go to the server and move the ones that have already downloaded to another folder beside the Inbox and that would take care of the problem.

Mr Bill is correct. All mail was re-downloaded and then deleted!
