MS Office Word2003 and Frontpage2003 - Cannot turn on option for recent docs or sites

Just upgraded to MS Office 2003 using Word and FrontPage.
I cannot access the recent documents and recent sites which is usually under "File "
Darned if I can find where I can turn on the option to have them available.
Help hasn't been any help either.

When I say I cannot access this item, I have found it under Tools/Options/General tab but it is greyed out so I can't give it a tick and change thte number of recent documents available.

I have all the latest updates and service packs for MS Office.

Can anyone out ther shed some light on this for me please.

The "Most recently used" list is missing from the File menu, and the "Recently used file list" option is unavailable in Office XP and in Office 2003
