MS Office Pro 2000 SR1

Windows XP pro, on a client's PC running office 2003, he continually gets a popup that wants to install office 2000 pro sr1. NOT running office 2000! Cannot get this to stop. Very annoying! Is it trying to run an .msi file from the registry? I can't find anything. Anyone been through this?

 

Was an upgrade disk used for the installation of 2003?
Does 2000 still show in Add/Remove programs?

Had the problem when upgraded from 2000 to 2007.
Never did run down why.

Got rid of it by uninstalling 2007 then uninstalling 2000.
Can’t recall if had to re-install 2000 before it’d completely remove itself.

When reinstalled 2007 and asked for the qualifying product just pop the 2000 cd into the drive. Install program will look at it - be happy - and ask you to put the install disk back in so can continue.

Hopefully you have the 2000 cd’s. so you won't have to find out why it's happening.
