ms messenger

    Can someone tell me why I can't seem to run ms messenger 5 on internet explorer. I can't seem to upgrade 4.7.

    If you want to use 5, you will need to remove 4.7. They are different programs and will attempt to run together. 5 is not truly an upgrade to 4.7 and to be honest, I don't like it. 5 is MSN messenger and not Windows messenger. Yes, they made a mess of things this time :(.

    To remove 4.7, go to Start>Run and type:
    RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    (This is one line. The only spaces are after RunDll32 and after Section.)

    Version 5 will not be integrated into the OS like 4.7, so if you want to do that, just keep 4.7 or get the latest 4.7 update.
