One of my MS keyboards is not doing what I suggest. My sound system works fine, but when I tell the keyboard to make a beep when I change capitalization, it no longer does it. Also, my bios shows numlock on, but it isn't.

If you watch the Numlock LED, does it come on during startup, but go off when Windows loads? That would signify that something is being loaded that turns the Numlock back off.

I can only suggest investigating any software for the keyboard. The main keyboard drivers are relatively basic, it is software/drivers for extra keys that can cause problems.

    Here is the troubleshooting information:

Look at the downloads for updated drivers/software, although it may be better to uninstall any previous software before reinstalling or updating (check for any listing in Add/Remove Programs) and even consider uninstalling in Safe Mode.

Investigate a conflict with any sort of "similar" software.
