MS-DOS program in XP

A customer recently brought me an older, much older two-way radio and needs it reprogrammed. The problem is that it is an MS DOS based program on a floppy disc.

Can I make this program run on XP, if so how.

When the program writes to the two-way radio it uses the serial port. I actually still have that cable.

Is it possible, I am not gonna purchase a new program for the only radio like this I've seen in years.
