I just updated my MS Antispyware program and noticed a new feature, a file shredder that destroys the contents of a file to US gov't standards. When I open the file shredder I am given the option of checking a box so that when in Explorer and right clicking a folder or file, the drop down menu should have the option of shredding the file or folder. However, after checking the box and rebooting, I do not get this option on the right click. Anyone else out there who has gotten this to work? and any suggestions on how I can get it to work?

I got that update a couple of days ago, too, and I can't find anything about a file shredder.

Did you perhaps find the file shredder in the list in Advanced Tools>Tracks Eraser? If so, that a list of the programs installed on your computer and by checking the box to the left of each program listed, Windows Antispyware will then erase that program's history when you click "Erase these tracks" in the botton right-hand corner of Antispyware's window.

I did find it in Advanced Tools but I think we differ on our interpretation of what File Shredder is. From my understanding it is a program supplied with MS Antispyware to anihilate a folder or directory on your hard drive. There is a check mark for adding this function to the drop down list when you right click a file in Explorer. I do not have this program on my computer.

My subscription to Giant Antispyware just expired and I had to update it to obtain new signatures. After I did this I noticed the File Shredder, which was probably there before but I never saw it. Since the upgrade I do not know if it works but when I checked a box for the shredder capability to be available on a right click when in Explorer, it did not work. I can also enter a file to be shredded manually by using the browse button but I have not actually tried it yet. I wonder if the upgrade disabled the file shredder? Do you know anything about this? When I ran a scan after the upgrade, the cookie checker did not work, so maybe the shredder was disabled.

I am now very confused. According to Giant you can still download the installation program if you have the product key, which I have. When I did this and ran it, a popup window said it was upgrading my current version. I wonder if this is really true or if they simply converted the Giant version into the MS version?

I apologize for I now realize the file shredder is still there--but I just right clicked in the left panel (where it does not appear)of Explorer rather than the right panel, and it does in fact work.
    Sorry again.
