    Hi,

This is my first post and I believe I have a major problem - each time I click on Internet Explorer my home page has been changed and an additional tool bars have been added as well as been inundated with the same annoying pop up ads. Spysweeper detects the homepage hijack and I reset it using this but the correction only lasts a short while. I can get rid of the additional toolbars by clicking on view then toolbars then freshbar and links but the next time I log on they are back on. I have also ran Adaware and Spybot but to no avail.

I have attached my HijackThis log. Can anybody please help me.

    Thank you.

    stevepottsuk :)

No doubt you have adware. The variant you have i havent personally seen, but i would advise running an updated Spybot in safe mode. Also look in Spybot for a feature in options (advanced mode only) that Locks IE Startpage. This stops some hijackers by itself.

Also lose Zone Alarm, it is useless software and not worth the resources it uses. Bet i upset someone saying this haha. Some swear by it, i hate it as a technician.

And another program you are using i see is Incredimail. Get rid of it also, or get the paid version, as the free version is an adware and spam magnet.

I also posted to say what kind of subject is that for a post. "mr ". What does that mean? You should have read the posting rules first.

I would like to welcome you to WindowsBBS, stevepottsuk :)

You have multiple infections, some of which will require the use of specailized removal tools, and will likely take several steps to complete. Hang in here with us and we'll get you cleaned up. Please do the same as I suggested in this thread. You can disregard the Ares comment. ;)

BTW, nothing wrong with Zone Alarm in my opinion. I not only use it, but have recommended it for and installed it on many home PCs, just as many other members of this board have. No complaints and quite satisfied with the protection it offers me. (can't beat the price either)
