Does mozilla w/o mail client run faster?

Maybe it will run faster, but because of the program architecture you probably won't see any great speed improvements.

The best way to improve mozilla's performance is to download the sources and compile them with gcc + optimization flags appropriate to your CPU. So Mozilla can use command sets of specific CPU's too.

Easier is to try Mozilla Firebird, which uses an improved architecture. Althought it's not finished Firebird is very stable.

Why not trying compiling Firebird with gcc optimizations too? :D

Try some of aebrahim's unofficial builds of MozillaFirebird with heavy optimizations. I am using an SSE optimized version and it runs very well and is quite a bit faster than the normal Mozilla and somewhat faster than the official MozillaFirebird builds.

He always lists them in the Mozillazine MozillaFirebird builds forum when he does them.

I have switched completely over to MozillaFirebird and the .1 version of Thunderbird mail client now. I rarely use the integrated Mozilla now.
