when opening mozilla, updater appears and ask if you want to update: check yes; runs update, then comes back 'cannot be updated apps, check computer for other mozilla'; have checked only one version running- whats the problem?-

It may be checking in order to update an Add-on, but the it's not compatable with the version of FF you have.

Hi 19524unc, Have a look in Firefox > Tools > Options > Advanced > Updates and see what is checked.

    Are you running Version 3.6.15?
    Cheers Neil.

Commenting on #3 and #4, I prefer to uncheck the Firefox box, and to have when updates are found, ask. As for the program, I rather check Help|Check for Updates. At this point when Firefox 4.0 is at the RC1 level, it is not a good idea, if 3.6.15 is used. I have 4.0 installed in a different folder, and I run it with a separate profile, but the R1 will wipe out 3.6.15, and make a mess. So, be careful. Don't let the update take place without your control.
It is best to check the Add/Remove. It is possible that you will find 4.0, instead of 3.6.15, although the original question is unclear, in places.
I had to remove 4.0, reinstall 3.6.15, and then reinstall 4.0, in a different folder.
