I installed the 1.5 release candidate over 1.4 because I was sick of the error messages. 1.5 deleted the preference bar I'd downloaded before. The pref bar had check boxes to enable/disable stuff like images, popups, sounds, etc. Does anyone know where I can find the bar. Google searches didn't find what I was looking for.

Sic gave you the correct location for the download.
This link tells you how to uninstall the prefbar. It is written in a confusing manner, because it refers to "chrome" which is present in the profile as well as the program. The first line refers to the profile directory, while the other two refer to the program. In your case part of the information was in 1.4, so 1.5 did not delete anything. It was not there in first place. http://prefbar.mozdev.org/help/faq.html#uninstall
What type of errors were you getting in 1.4?

No error messages. The display would go kinda funny like it was running out of graphic resources or it'd freeze. Sometimes DDHELP.EXE would crash after I closed the browser.
