    Please Help Me!

I have been using Mozilla Mail and have setup my account with options and changes.
I'm especially interested in recovery of my many message rules.

I was doing testing using a new Netscape profile. I'm testing email to a test mail installation. I was never able to connect which is not the problem. Since I've created a new account on the
netscape side, now when I log into Mozilla Mail it prompts me with the "Convert Profile"
option. I don't want this to do this. I want my old Mozilla account to be back to normal. I know it
still exists because I found in my C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla

I haven't been able to find a way to revert back to that account. I want to force Mozilla to recover my old profile so I can move on. Can anyone direct me to a location detailing how to retrieve my old account back to my default profile. Or can you give me the details on how to recover and stop this "Convert Profile" from displaying.

    Thanks!
    rgrchico :D

    Welcome to the Forum, rgchico!

    rgchico,

Both Netscape and Mozilla use this location for Profiles, so just to clarify, do you have TWO Profiles here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla?

What versions of Netscape and Mozilla are you using?

To point Mozilla to the original Profile:
    Open Mail & Newsgroups
Click on: Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings
Scroll down to the "Local directory" field
Correct this path to point to the original Profile location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\profilename\Mail\pop.isp.net

    Ramona,
Thanks for responding. It's been a real struggle.
Due to a lack of response and since I had a some time so here is what
    I've done so far.

First of all, I completely uninstalled Netscape thinking that if I remove Netscape, that version of the account that the profile manager is complaining about and I'm prompted for with the "Convert Profile" will go away. However, I'm still receiving it and still not able to get to my original information.
As a matter of fact when the Profile Manager screen pops up, it shows no other accounts listed and is asking me to create a profile. Bascially a blank screen. So I just exit for fear of compiling the already difficult situation I'm in.

So I can't even pull up a Mozilla mail screen to get to the tools menu.

I'm sure all of my data is intact. I can see it all under my Mozilla profile directory. I also have the regirstry.dat file. I think this file may be the key to solving my problem but it seems to be in some kind of binary state.

I'm going to zip up my ../mozilla directory just to be on the safe side.

    Ricardo,

What version of Netscape, and what version of Mozilla are you using?

I asked if you had more than one Profile listed in the Mozilla folder, just to ensure that you weren't sharing a Profile, but it appears that you aren't.

Again, open the Profile Manager, and click on "Create Profile ". Enter the name of the original Mozilla Profile that you see in the Profiles folder, and see if Mozilla will open.

The registry.dat file does point to the Profile. What you can do, if you get Mozilla to open, is rename the registry.dat file (Xregistry.dat) with Netscape open.. When you close Mozilla a new registry.dat file will be created, and will contain only the Mozilla Profile.

Let us know if this works for you.
