I have been running Firefox for over a year now without having any problems, but the day before yesturday every thing went wrong, the history column is taking up nearly half the page and cannot be removed. the Bookmasks cannot be retreived infact the whole page is a mess.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times with out any success. I run windows XP and tried the recovery program also without success.
Hope some one can help because I need to recover my bookmarks.

    Regards
    John

Your personal settings are in your profile, which is a separate entity from the program, so the uninstallreinstall is a futile effort.
I am not even sure what you mean by your History page problem. As for the bookmarks, may be you can take a look at this

    Hi John,

You didn't say what version of FF you've been using but, do you upgrade with the nightly Trunk builds? If so, I'd strongly suggest using the nightly Aviary builds, instead, as they're not quite so cutting edge and are much more stable.

Something else to consider is that you might have a newly installed extension that's causing problems, or an existing extension that you haven't updated. If that's a possibility, try opening FF in Safe Mode (not the Windows Safe Mode) ... if you normally open FF from a shortcut, open the shortcut's properties sheet and add -safe-mode to the end of the Target: line (with a space after firefox.exe). That will open FF with no extensions, allowing you to see if that's where your problem lies.
