    Hi all...

I tried Mozilla 1.5b over the weekend but wasn't too impressed. It seemed slower, actually, than Netscape 7.1. To get into sites, I had to "double choose" the URL before it would load up.

I was wondering about this Firebird browser by Mozilla. What is the difference between that and Mozilla? Does Firebird come with a mail and newsgroup program pre installed like Mozilla? Is Firebird considered better than Mozilla?

Any info on this would be appreciated!

    :)

Basically Firebird 0.61 is just a browser by itself, meaning it's a standalone browser. It does not come with mail or newsgroups. Firebird is a project where Mozilla developers are trying to streamline Mozilla into separate components, like Firebird is a streamlined browser, and Thunderbird is their standalone mail client. I myself like all of those things intergrated into one progam. However, I do not use Mozilla 1.4 because of it's resource leak problem. I use Beonex communicator which is based on Mozilla 1.0.2. (sorry i know i keep plugging this proram but i love it. :))

Don't be quick to judge Mozilla based on your experience. Beta software is almost always buggy. I'm sure when the final version is released, it'll be awesome. I'm planning on upgrading because of the resource leak problem. I love Mozy 1.4, but if I leave it on too long it kinda messes up my display a bit.

I've used Firebird for awhile now and love it. A snappy little feller and no pop-ups.
