If I remember correctly, not long ago mozilla.org decided mozilla 1.4 will be the last mozilla and the future efforts will be on firebird and thunderbird. But now, there will be mozilla 1.5 and mozilla 1.6. What is the whole story? :p

Interesting, I thought 1.4 was going to be the last original mozilla build. Perhaps there are some things in the gecko engine that need to be tested? Or perhaps they have new features/enhancements?

Or it could just be enough users like the regular mozilla where they will do both? I don't really know, hopefully someone else will though. I'm curious about this mystery myself.

A good source of information on Mozilla status is the Mozilla.org Status page. The Friday July 4, 2003 (Status Update #206), states:

In future milestone cycles, mozilla.org plans to switch to Mozilla Firebird and Mozilla Thunderbird as the default Web browsing and mail/news applications.

At this point it's rather hard to find any definitive date or start/stop point for this application. Keep following this site and the MozillaZine site for current information.
