Thanks Labarum! I installed it this morning, and am enjoying the usual speed, and stability of Mozilla 1.7. I read that there will be several Release Candidates before the final Mozilla 1.7 is released. I'm certain this is due to the fact that the new Netscape release will be based on the Mozilla 1.7 code.

    Hi Houston,

I don't know if you recall, but there was a petition started in November of last year, from Netscape users, asking AOL/TW to reconsider their position on abandoning the development of Netscape. http://www.petitiononline.com/saveNS/petition.html
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24887&highlight=petition

Evidently AOL/TW heard the cry of the users, as there will be a new Netscape Release in the early Summer, actual date unknown. http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=4544

Hey, I liked your ad, and thanks!

Have been running 1.7b zip install. Downloaded "mozilla-win32-1.7rc1-Installer.exe, backedup profile, moved Mozilla 1.7b program folder to temp folder/location (there is not an uninstall .exe for zip builds). Ran 1.7rc1-Installer.exe, installing to default folder Program Files\ mozilla.org\Mozilla. Checked Mozilla install status logs, took 26 seconds to run install, move all profile info over. Program installed/converted perfectly, program works flawlessly.
    BUT...
When I check version info, it says I'm running 1.7b. The build is 2004042109. It does have new features, such as "display password ". So it appears I have 1.7RC1 installed, but I'm not sure if my user agent would agree.
    UPDATE
This minor inconvenience was also reported at SillyDog701.

    Hi Dennis,

As I'm sure you know by now, the date of the Release is the confirmation that you have 1.7RC1 (20040421).

The Zip version has no uninstall file, because all that is necessary is to delete the entire Mozilla folder. When I test the new Releases I like the Zip file, as it is so easy to use. Unzip in the folder of your choice, then when ready to update, delete the Mozilla folder.

    What's New

    NOTE:
Mozilla 1.7 size and performance have improved dramatically with this release. When compared to Mozilla 1.6, Mozilla 1.7 RC 1 is 7% faster at startup, is 8% faster at window open time, has 9% faster pageloading times, and is 5% smaller in binary size.
