They say its faster, and that is my subjective impression.

Although I haven't been using 1.7b very long, it does have a "snappy" feel. This is from the "What's New" section of the Release Notes:

"Mozilla 1.7 size and performance have improved dramatically with this release. When compared to Mozilla 1.6, Mozilla 1.7 Beta is 7% faster at startup, is 8% faster at window open time, has 9% faster pageloading times, and is 5% smaller in binary size. "

    Download
    Win32
Full Installer (11.4 MB) Download all of the Mozilla components and then specify install options.
Net Installer (235 KB) Download only the components you specify.
Zipfile (10.5 MB) Does not include the Talkback crash reporting utility.
    Mac OS X
Disk Image (14.1 MB) Self-mounting disk image contains the full Mozilla application suite.
    Linux (x86)
Full Installer (12.9 MB) Download all of the Mozilla components and then specify install options.
Net Installer (99 KB) Download only the components you specify.
tar.gz format (12.4 MB) Does not include the Talkback crash reporting utility. "

The menu bar seems to have grades colour on it - tough sometimes I think it has not. I haven't worked that out yet. It is, of course entirely cosmetic.

There seems to be some 3D shading of the buttons as well, and the favories bar highlights as the mouse moves accros its elements.

I would still like a button to toggle the sidebar (F11) - Netscape has that.

The status bar has increased in hight - a change to accommodate higher definition screens, I suppose

    Ramona...

Ok, I finally broke down and installed Mozilla 1.6 being Netscape is no longer being updated. Question, however. When I upgrade to future versions, ie: 1.7b, do I just upgrade it over this 1.6 version or do a clean install?

    Thanks

    Hi Ken,

You definitely want to do a clean install. Remove Mozilla 1.6 via Add/Remove. Copy your plugins folder to a temporary folder, before uninstalling 1.6.

The uninstall won't touch your Profiles folder, so all Profile data will remain intact.

Mozilla 1.7 final is scheduled for release on or about April 20.

    Labarum,

Using Windows, F9 will toggle the sidebar on and off.

Yep, I know, (I mistakenly said F11), but I am too idle to take my hands of my trackball!

I have configured a trackball button to do F9, but that means it cant do anything else.
