    Hi all,

I am running Mozy 1.6, WIN98 SE and have been for a long while but have recently run into a small yet irritating problem. For the longest time I have had Mozy save my passwords to a few select sites I use, WindowsBBS being one of them only due to the fact and I hate to admit it but I am lazy when it come to entering this info :D .

It seems that Mozy doesnt want to even ask me if I want to remember my password for WindowsBBS and it is getting quite annoying as I am actually haveing to type LOL ;) anyways I have gone into EDIT~PREFERANCES~SECURITY~PASSWORDS and looked around to see if there was somwhere I could insert my info and save it but that option does not seem available.

Is there a way to get my good friend Mozy to ask me once again if I want to save my password here at WindowsBBS. The only thing I can possibly think that might of happened is that It asked at one time and I told it NO or NEVER for this site! :(

    Very Best Regards,
    ~FIREDANCER~

    Hi Firedancer,

Exit Windows BBS, and clear the Cache for good measure. Open the Password Manager, and delete the password for Windows BBS. When you next access Windows BBS, you should get the Password Manager dialog asking to save the Password.

Let us know if you continue to have this annoyance.

    Firedancer,

Do the other sites for which you have passwords work without problems? I'm assuming that this is the only site, right?

Have you tried logging off WindowsBBS, which will delete your cookie for the site. Clear the Cache, then log back on and see if Password Manager asks to save.

If not, the password file (somenumber.s) might be corrupt. If so, your only alternative would be to rename the file, and let Mozilla rebuild the file. You can then open Mozilla to WindowsBBS, and when asked for your password, you should get the dialog asking to save. You will lose all passwords if you do this, and will have to re-enter for all the other sites.

    Hi Ramona,

    Yes, that is correct

Yes, and it does not ask to save at any time

This file does not exsist on my machine, I searched using START~FIND~FILES/FOLDERS as well as going through all folders in C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla and could not locate it to rename.

Not sure what to try now  tee hee but anyways thanks so much for your help it is always appreciated if you have any more ideas I am open to suggestions. I am gonna go to Mozy site and see if i can search out this problem and any possible remmodies :) will post back if I find any.

    Regards,

    ~FIREDANCER~ ;)

    FireDancer,

I believe you took me literally on the file name. By somenumber.s, e.g., the file name would be 12345678.s, or 35478913.s, etc. Just "some numbers" with an "s" extension. The file is located (depending on your OS) in the *.slt (salted) folder. See: Profiles Location for your OS.

Right click on the icon, and select Rename
Call it any name you want, but leaving the extention. Like stinker1234...s
It should be rebuilt after exiting Explorer.

Thanks, I guess I wasnt clear.. I do infact know how to rename a file but was curious if it had to have certain name before or after the extention.

The file has a name of Old12345.s and I see a new file was rebuilt but it still does not ask me to save a P word at windowsbbs even now it is working for other sites though :( Can I just delete the old file ?

    FireDancer,

Sure, you can delete the old file. Can't figure out what is going on though, as rebuilding the file should have done the job.

Try again deleting the WindowsBBS password.
Open the Cookie Manager, Tools | Cookie Manager
    Remove all WindowsBBS cookies
Check the list of Cookie Sites to ensure that WindowsBBS has not inadvertently been added to the list of sites not allowed. Log out of the site, log back in...

    FireDancer,

Good news indeed, as I was stumped on why it wasn't working for you. Deleting the old file shouldn't have made one whit of difference, but since it did, good going!
